Don't get me wrong, I do love a good fluffy vampire romance, BUT there is just something addictive about bloody, broody, and mysterious vampires in a dark, cursed castle that is unparalleled! That, paired with the mysteriously hungry and bloody-thirsty black mist that continues to plague our MC throughout the story, makes for an unputdownable supernatural story about trauma, grief, love, betrayal, and survival. This book was incredible, deeply romantic, and ultimately hopeful, even when everything seems dark and lost. Even though I do not speak Spanish, I love the inclusion of it in this novel and thought it was beautifully woven into the story and explored by Estela.
