Admiral James T. Kirk is charged by the Klingon Empire for the comandeering of a Klingon starship. The Federation honors the Klingon demands for extradition, and Kirk and the crew of the Starship Enterprise are drawn back to Earth.

Vonda N. McIntyre is the author of several fiction and nonfiction books. McIntyre won her first Nebula Award in 1973, for the novelette โ€œOf Mist, and Grass, and Sand.โ€ This later became part of the novel Dreamsnake (1978), which was rejected by the first editor who saw it, but went on to win both the Hugo and Nebula Awards. George Takei is an actor, activist, and New York Times bestselling author. He is best known for his role of Mr. Sulu in the acclaimed television and film series Star Trek.
