Learn moreThe internet has shaken the foundations of life: public and private lives are wrought by the 24-hour, seven-day-a-week news cycle that means no one is ever off duty. On Disruption is a report from the coalface of that change: what has happened, will it keep happening, and is there any way out of the chaos?
Katharine Murphy has worked in Canberraโs parliamentary press gallery since 1996 for the Australian Financial Review, The Australian and The Age, before joining Guardian Australia, where she is political editor. She won the Paul Lyneham Award for Excellence in Press Gallery Journalism in 2008 and has been a Walkley Award finalist twice. She was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Canberra in 2019. She is a director of the National Press Club and the author of On Disruption.
A graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Katherine has worked with a number of Australiaโs leading mainstage and independent theatre companies, as well as festivals both nationally and overseas. Katherine is also known for her work on Australian television, featuring in shows such as Neighbours and Blue Heelers.
