Love comes home for the challah-days in this sparkling romance.
Snow is falling, holiday lights are twinkling, and Abby Cohen is pissed. For one thing, her most annoying customer, Seth, has been coming into her café every morning with his sunshiny attitude, determined to break down her carefully constructed emotional walls. And, as the only Jew on the tourism board of her Vermont town, Abby's been charged with planning their fledgling Hanukkah festival. Unfortunately, the local vendors don’t understand that the story of Hanukkah cannot be told with light-up plastic figures from the Nativity scene, even if the Three Wise Men wear yarmulkes.
Desperate for support, Abby puts out a call for help online and discovers she was wrong about being the only Jew within a hundred miles. There's one other: Seth.
As it turns out, Seth’s parents have been badgering him to bring a Nice Jewish Girlfriend home to New York City for Hanukkah, and if Abby can survive his incessant, irritatingly handsome smiles, he’ll introduce her to all the vendors she needs to make the festival a success. But over latkes, doughnuts, and winter adventures in Manhattan, Abby begins to realize that her fake boyfriend and his family might just be igniting a flame in her own guarded heart.
Amanda Elliot lives with her husband and daughter in New York City, where she collects way too many cookbooks for her tiny kitchen, runs in Central Park, and writes for teens and kids under the name Amanda Panitch.
Reviews
"Love You a Latke is the Hallmark Hanukkah movie I've been waiting for all my life. Seth's and Abby's lovely story of fake dating and meddling parents, small town Hanukkah festivals and finding friendship in unexpected places, is a cozy delight, and as sweet and inviting as a cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter night. I loved every word!"—Jenna Levine, USA Today bestselling author of My Roommate Is a Vampire“One of my favorite reads of 2024, Love You A Latke by Amanda Elliot is Hanukkah romance at its very best.”—Jean Meltzer, international bestselling author of The Matzah Ball
"Love You a Latke is a beautiful story with an unexpected slow burn romance and amazing supporting characters. But it's also a story about community — the community you're embraced by, the community you make and the magical miracle of Hanukkah."—Stacey Agdern, award-winning author of The B'Nai Mitzvah Mistake
“Amanda Elliot’s Love You a Latke is a perfect book to cozy up with this holiday season. Come for the unabashed defense of Hannukah not being Jewish Christmas, stay for the tender depiction of love, community and friendship. You’ll be rooting for Seth to win Abby over from the moment he walks into her coffee shop.”—Ali Rosen, author of Recipe for Second Chances and Alternate Endings
"Reads like a dream of a Hanukkah Hallmark movie. I bet it would make an excellent holiday gift for a reader in your life."—Deb Perelman, creator of Smitten Kitchen
“This is a fun rom-com, that gives great insight into Hanukkah, and what the holiday is about. At its core it’s about family, friendship and love. Fans of this kind of holiday love story are in for a treat. And you’ll be hungry for Latkes by the time you finish the book.”—Red Carpet Crash

"This is a keeper."—Publishers Weekly
“Amanda Elliot celebrates the winter holiday season with Love You a Latke, a heartwarming exploration of community and human connection set during Hanukkah. … This wonderful novel has a well-defined plot and characters with absorbing emotional depth. … Elliot's mouthwatering descriptions of latkes, doughnuts, and artisanal coffee will delight readers, as will the rest of her engaging novel.”—Shelf Awareness Expand reviews
