“What if you could trade out your husband on a whim? He has nose hair? Trade him in! He snores? Trade him in! In The Husbands Lauren is given the chance to do just that when she finds her husband in her flat, although she's never been married. Her attic has become a place of magic where one husband goes up and another comes down. This book was beautifully written and has such a creative plot that kept me engaged throughout it's entireity. This was a wonderful audiobook!”

“A wonderful romp of a debut novel. Lauren’s search for 'the right man' becomes hilarious drama when she discovers her attic has the magical ability to spit out one 'husband' after another for her to 'try on'. She sends one man after another back up the attic stairs, hoping the next one will be that 'perfect man'. Every page is both fun and funny and the suspense for how she’ll finalize things will keep you reading. ”

“The Husbands is everything I expected and then some. At times I could not stop laughing, at others my gut was in knots. Who knew that a mystical attic that dispenses new husbands is the perfect vehicle for a journey of self discovery? Plenty of surprises and plenty of levity.”

“This book was so much fun! A highly entertaining page-turner, it explores what one woman’s life would be like with an ongoing series of husbands that emerge from her attic, at least until she decides to exchange them for the next one. Witty, clever, and imaginative. Great for fans of Jojo Moyes! ”

“Laugh-out-loud funny and thought provoking at the same time. If your attic produced a never ending stream of husbands that you could exchange the moment they got on your nerves, what would you do? When would your life be enough for you to settle down and stop looking for the next best thing? I enjoyed this book, the narration was great, and I frequently recommend this book to my customers. Very much enjoyed it and will be watching for more from this author!”

INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • READ WITH JENNA’S APRIL BOOK CLUB PICK • The Husbands delights in asking: how do we navigate life, love, and choice in a world of never-ending options? (“A bottomless champagne flute of a novel —The Washington Post)
When Lauren returns home to her flat in London late one night, she is greeted at the door by her husband, Michael. There’s only one problem—she’s not married. She’s never seen this man before in her life. But according to her friends, her much-improved decor, and the photos on her phone, they’ve been together for years.
As Lauren tries to puzzle out how she could be married to someone she can’t remember meeting, Michael goes to the attic to change a lightbulb and abruptly disappears. In his place, a new man emerges, and a new, slightly altered life re-forms around her. Realizing that her attic is creating an infinite supply of husbands, Lauren confronts the question: If swapping lives is as easy as changing a lightbulb, how do you know you’ve taken the right path? When do you stop trying to do better and start actually living?
