“One of the funniest rom-coms I have read in a long time! Meet Sophie; she dodges the bullet at the alter, thanks to "The Objector - Max." She teams up with him in this super spicy romance with the goal of saving other couples from the farce that is "love." A great, fun, meet-cute read!”

“I can be a little picky about audio books sometimes, but the voice actors made this one a riot! In each POV, they voiced the other character's lines to make it seem like they're both telling the listener themselves the story as a duo. Amplifying the charm and wit of the romantic leads, adding extra humor to the side characters like Sophie's roommates - they definitely had me hooked. But so did the story! The unresolved tension in Happily Never After builds in a really satisfying way, and it's obvious Lynn Painter knows how to write both male and female perspectives. Sophie's anti-love stance and protectiveness pairs well with Max's real-life hero behavior as they team up to object to weddings that the bride or groom can't call off without consequences. This was a joy to listen to while crafting and doing chores I otherwise would've avoided! ”

“Ah! This is such a great book! A professional wedding crasher joins forces with one of his former clients who doesn't believe in true love to happily destroy marriages before they begin at the behest of one of the betrothed. What could go wrong! This is a fast and fun read with great banter and chemistry between the main characters. The audiobook is super fun to listen to!”

“A delightful romance that made me want to crash a few weddings. You will have a great time with these two 'objectors'! If you opt for the audio version, the two narrators are perfect in their roles. ”

Their name? The objectors.
Their job? To break off weddings as hired.
Their dilemma? They might just be in love with each other.
When Sophie Steinbeck finds out just before her nuptials that her fiancé has cheated yet again, she desperately wants to call it off. But because her future father-in-law is her dad’s cutthroat boss, she doesn’t want to be the one to do it. Her savior comes in the form of a professional objector, whose purpose is to show up at weddings and proclaim the words no couple (usually) wants to hear at their ceremony: “I object!”
During anti-wedding festivities that night, Sophie learns more about Max the Objector’s job. It makes perfect sense to her: he saves people from wasting their lives, from hurting each other. He’s a modern-day hero. And Sophie wants in.
The two love cynics start working together, going from wedding to wedding, and Sophie’s having more fun than she’s had in ages. She looks forward to every nerve-racking ceremony saving the lovesick souls of the betrothed masses. As Sophie and Max spend more time together, however, they realize that their physical chemistry is off the charts, leading them to dabble in a little hookup session or two—but it’s totally fine, because they definitely do not have feelings for each other. Love doesn’t exist, after all.
And then everything changes. A groom-to-be hires Sophie to object, but his fiancée is the woman who broke Max’s heart. As Max wrestles with whether he can be a party to his ex’s getting hurt, Sophie grapples with the sudden realization that she may have fallen hard for her partner in crime.
