“If I had to pick a favorite romance, it would be this one. I reread it regularly (sometimes several times a year, usually once in audio) and I love it every time. This is probably not the book I'd recommend most people use to get into historical romance for the first time—there's at least a little splash of "well, it's a little older, so there's Some Stuff to be aware of;" namely that the hero of this book is the villain of the preceding book and maybe possibly lowkey kidnapped that book's heroine. But this is a marriage of convenience that really hits for me, every single time. Watching the epitome of a rakish hero fall against his will for the woman he's married to is one of my favorite things, and absolutely no one does it like Lisa Kleypas.
