One Italian Summer

A Novel

By Rebecca Serle
Narrated by: Lauren Graham
Length: 6 hours 21 minutes

One Italian Summer

“This book was the perfect read that I finished with happy tears streaming down my face. Rebecca Serle’s writing is beautiful and gripping, and I will now read everything she writes. One Italian Summer has a hint of magical realism with time-travel in the premise. Katy and Adam are both so relatable I found myself wishing I was friends with both of them. This book is a love letter to motherhood, overcoming grief, and rekindling lost love. This book also helped feed my wanderlust and made me want to revisit Italy as soon as possible. Serle paints a pictures of Italy so beautifully that I could see it for myself and it felt as though I was transported for a day. This story will make you crave to learn more about your parents’ past and will allow you to look at every relationship with fresh eyes. ”

Happy-Go-Lucky

By David Sedaris
Narrated by: David Sedaris
Length: 7 hours 30 minutes

Happy-Go-Lucky

“Another terrific collection of essays from David Sedaris, and it's as good as anything he has ever written. This time, the humorist sets his sights on gun laws, Covid-19, loneliness, his father's death, and even a Black Lives Matter march. If this seems heavy, just wait till you get to the objects inserted into rectums part! Raunchy, hilarious, and often poignant, Sedaris is simply one of the best! If you can get the audiobook, do so, because David's readings are legendary.”

“This novel toggles between infuriating, terrifying, and comedic. An interesting study on what it means to be a woman and a mother. Extremely satisfied with an unexpected ending.”

Four Hundred Souls

A Community History of African America, 1619-2019

By Ibram X. Kendi & Keisha N. Blain
Narrated by: Various
Length: 14 hours 1 minutes

Four Hundred Souls

“An absolutely stunning history of African America for people who do not normally read history. Compiled of short stories, essays, and poems, it is perfect for someone who is intimidated by lists of names and dates. Each individual voice stands on its own but together they truly make a 'choir' that flows together beautifully. This is a one-of-a-kind history that is essential reading for everyone.”

The Memoirs of Stockholm Sven

By Nathaniel Ian Miller
Narrated by: Olafur Darri Olafsson
Length: 10 hours 52 minutes

The Memoirs of Stockholm Sven

“Poor misanthropic Sven, his great Arctic adventures tend toward the bumbling and catastrophic, but he persists in his dream to be alone in the great north - only to find that the few friends (including a very shaggy dog) he has made in his travels are what he needs most. It's a lovely, wry and insightful novel, and Olafur Dari Olafsson's deep Nordic-accented voice was an inspired choice for a narrator!”

The Lost Apothecary

A Novel

By Sarah Penner
Narrated by: Lorna Bennett, Lauren Anthony & Lauren Irwin
Length: 10 hours 17 minutes

The Lost Apothecary

“A wonderful melding of two timelines told by a trio of female voices. Each woman is standing at a crossroads; one is just becoming a woman, one is anticipating the end of her life, and one the end of her marriage. A small, blue apothecary bottle links the women and the timelines together. Penner skillfully guides us along the path each woman chooses. I could hardly bear to put the book down, such was the need to know the choice each woman makes and the consequences of that choice.”

Under the Whispering Door

By TJ Klune
Narrated by: Kirt Graves
Length: 14 hours 54 minutes

Under the Whispering Door

“If Wallace Price was still alive, I would want to meet him. Well, no, I would like to meet the dead Wallace because he’s much nicer that way; a true curmudgeon turned marshmallow as he accepts he’s done in this plane of existence. I wasn’t sure a book about death and grieving was what I needed this year, but upon finishing I can assure you this book is exactly what we all need right now. Klune’s signature quirky characters have that tendency to sneakily sink their hooks into your chest. Before I knew it, I had fallen in love with everyone, especially the ghost dog Apollo. There will likely be a lot of emotions in this reading experience, but it is all beautifully cathartic. Laughter, yes, and some tears. Many quietly profound passages had me pause to reflect and think about my own life and my family. I recommend reading it with a cup of tea and having someone you can hug within reach.”

“A dynamic, and timely, debut by a new voice in fiction, Jocelyn Nicole Johnson. This collection is comprised of five short stories and one novella all set in the state of Virginia. As you read these stories, you will experience, and feel, the gamut of human emotion as the voices and themes in each are different. The author explores race, identity, and an imagining of the future in the novella "My Monticello". Thought-provoking.”
