The DNA of You and Me
A smart debut novel—a wonderfully engaging infusion of Lab Girl, The Assistants, and Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine—that pits the ambition of scientific discovery against the siren call of love.
How does smell work? Specifically, how do olfactory sensory neurons project to their targets in the olfactory bulb, where smell is processed? Justin...Read more »
The New Husband
“Two years ago, Nina's husband went missing. All that was left was the boat that he was fishing on and its floor covered in his blood. It is then that Nina discovers that her trusted husband was leading a double life. He had been fired from his finance job months before his disappearance. Fast forward to the present. Nina's new boyfriend, Simon is a teacher at her 13-year-old daughter's school. Nina also has a younger son, Connor. Her daughter, Maggie, never warms up to Simon and was suspicious of him since the start of the romance. This storyline was reminiscent of Dirty John, the Bravo show. That's all I can tell you except that I really enjoyed this book. The narration get an A+.”Melinda, Buttonwood Books and Toys
“I started listening to this book before knowing anything about it. The narrative is split between two female characters. As the book opens, Marin is a successful businesswoman who is happily married with one child. Kenzi is a young art student in her twenties. Her boyfriend just happens to be Marin's husband. One day, Marin is a candy store with her precious son. She looks away to pay the cashier. When she looks down on her son, he has vanished. There are many surprising twists throughout this well-written story. The final plot twist is one that I never saw coming. The narration was beautifully done. I highly recommend this novel to the reader who treasures a razor-sharp thriller.”Katie, Buttonwood Books and Toys

The Other Bennet Sister
“True to Austen and thoroughly enjoyable The Other Bennet Sister follows Mary, the middle sister of Jane Austen's infamous family. Mary is the bookish one of the family and not interested in the frivolous social nuances of the times. She is sensitive and smart and interested in history, the natural world, and (gasp) not whom she should marry! Will she follow her heart, or the outlandish expectations of her mother and society? This is a coming-of-age story of a forward-thinking woman learning to accept herself and her passion. Don’t miss this if you are an Austen fan. Mendonca is a wonderful narrator.”Karin, Bookworm of Edwards
