“Alisha Rai breaks down patriarchal walls and presents an empowering and realistic romance. Rai incorporates humor and sexy banter while maintaining characters independence. The Confessions of Frannie Langton

A Novel

By Sara Collins
Narrated by: Sara Collins & Roy McMillan
Length: 12 hours 13 minutes

The Confessions of Frannie Langton

“Drawing on her experiences of growing up in the Cayman Islands, attending university in London, and practicing law, outstanding debut author Sara Collins has drawn a character one will not soon forget. Told with evocative language, Frannie Langton’s confession is a life story not to be missed. Raised on a sugar plantation in Jamaica, then transported to a life of servitude in London, Frannie lives a life of twists and turns of love and betrayal that will both shock and intrigue you. I was as tense as she was waiting for the verdict to be handed down. Thank you, Sara Collins!”

American Spy

A Novel

By Lauren Wilkinson
Narrated by: Bahni Turpin
Length: 10 hours 49 minutes

American Spy

“Part literary fiction, part spy novel, punctuated by black American history, Lauren Wilkinson’s debut novel crosses time periods and genres. This unflinching portrayal of a young black woman who becomes a Fed during the height of the Cold War is based on the true story of Thomas Sankara, known as “Africa’s Che Guevara.” Politics, illicit relationships, and family drama all converge in this tale of American history, disguised as a thriller, written like a memoir. Be brave. Be groundbreaking. Take risks. Live to see the consequences of your actions and to be bold another day.”

The Book of Night Women

By Marlon James
Narrated by: Robin Miles
Length: 15 hours 45 minutes

The Book of Night Women

“This is a tough, but really good, read. And so powerful and well-done. There are so many strong women in this, in their individuality, in their sisterhood, in their strength. I have to admit that I don't often like stories with main female characters or voices written by men, but James really does something remarkable here. This is so impressive.”

From Scratch

A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home

By Tembi Locke
Narrated by: Tembi Locke
Length: 10 hours 17 minutes

From Scratch

“I just finished wiping away my last tear as I close the curtain on From Scratch, a brilliant, compelling memoir. Tembi Locke lost her larger-than-life Italian chef husband at an early age to cancer. The book is a love letter to him as well as to enchanting Sicily and its aromatic, tantalizing food. But more than anything, it is the most memorable and thoughtful gift that her daughter will ever receive. I highly recommend the audio version which is read by the author. From Scratch is one of the best memoirs that I have ever read and one of my top five best books that I read this Summer.”

The Goldfinch

A Novel (Pulitzer Prize for Fiction)

By Donna Tartt
Narrated by: David Pittu
Length: 32 hours 24 minutes

The Goldfinch

“The Goldfinch was always one of those books I was intimidated to start. It's so long! And sprawling! Was I really going to commit to thirty hours of a book about a painting? The answer is: I waited much too long to get to this truly incredible story, and if you--like me--are daunted by this book's length and scope, the audiobook is for you. Read by veteran stage actor David Pittu (and award winning audiobook narrator), I was rapt from the opening scene to the very last. The story follows Theo Decker from the day he loses his mother in a terrorist attack inside New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art through the rest of his youth. Theo is bounced through households, adrift without his mother, from the Upper East Side apartment of a wealthy schoolmate to his father's Las Vegas subdivision, always accompanied by the small, precious painting he took from the museum on the fateful day his mother died. It's an incredible coming of age tale, read by Pittu with humor and perfect dramatic timing. Despite the many hours I spent with this audiobook, I was sad when it was over. It is just that good.”

Patsy

A Novel

By Nicole Dennis-Benn
Narrated by: Sharon Gordon
Length: 17 hours 9 minutes

Patsy

“I feel that Dennis-Benn is unparalleled in writing the insidious unforgivables. The mother who can't find love for her daughter, the more-than-friend who takes everything you give them and never gives back, the daughter told to be a "good girl" who finds difficulty doing either of those things for the woman who ends up raising her. Like her debut, this novel is filled with characters tormented by the compromises they made but whose character Dennis-Benn refuses to compromise. The painfully recognizable humanity of everyone in Patsy asks us all to reach inside for the empathy we're capable of for people we wouldn't normally think to give it to.”

Daisy Jones & The Six

A Novel

By Taylor Jenkins Reid
Narrated by: Jennifer Beals, Benjamin Bratt, Judy Greer & Pablo Schreiber
Length: 9 hours 3 minutes

Daisy Jones & The Six

“Some books just have to be listened to for the ultimate experience! This audiobook is just so much fun. Follow rock band Daisy Jones and the Six through their meteoric rise to fame in the 1970s. This book has all the drugs and drama you’d expect, but also complex, human characters whose loves and losses you can’t help but be moved by. The audiobook is full cast and full production and truly blew me away. I can’t wait to see Reese Witherspoon adapt this for a limited series and for this book to get even bigger. All the praise is well deserved!”

The Travelers

A Novel

By Regina Porter
Narrated by: Bahni Turpin & Dominic Hoffman
Length: 11 hours 17 minutes

The Travelers

“Spanning over 50 years and the intersection of two centuries, The Travelers weaves together the stories of two families and in the process gives an incisive portrait of a country and society in the midst of massive social change. The author artfully moves back and forth in time as the stories emerge and converge, probing the dynamics of love and family and the bounds and conflicts inherent in both. This novel is the story of two families but universal in the America it portrays.”

On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous

A Novel

By Ocean Vuong
Narrated by: Ocean Vuong
Length: 7 hours 18 minutes

On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous

“Alright 2019, this is the novel to beat. On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous is the rare novel that makes you experience reading in a slightly different way and shows you that, no matter how many books you’ve read, something new and uniquely beautiful can still be found. The novel takes the form of a letter written by the main character, Little Dog, to his mother — an immigrant from Vietnam who cannot read. The power of Vuong’s poetic writing shimmers with every paragraph, and each phrase is a carefully considered, emotional journey. Grappling with themes of identity, sexuality, addiction, violence, and finding your place in a world where you feel you don’t belong, this book already feels like a modern classic, destined to be read and talked about for years to come.”
