He is currently writing a fantasy novel set in 19th Century America, pursuing publication of a YA sci-fi novel, and developing a board game. McKelvey was born in New Hampshire and raised in East Texas, but now dwells in the long shadows somewhere south of Nashville with his Norwegianish wife. He has three half-Norwegianish adult daughters and two sons-in-law. Douglas also has a dog. And a beard.
