Learn moreIn this inspirational collection of twelve sermons, George MacDonald offers compelling insight into the life of Jesus Christ.
MacDonald stressed the necessity of salvation and the importance of combining Christian faith with obedience to Jesus’ teachings. He also believed that God’s universal grace would eventually save everyone.
Though written in the mid-nineteenth century, these sermons, including “Mirrors of Christ,” “Glorified through Trouble, “Salvation from Sin,” and “The Giver of Rest,” continue to provide contemporary followers with the spiritual guidance they seek.
For those who wish to know Jesus better, this is a book you will want to hear.
George MacDonald (1824–1905), Scottish children’s author and novelist, was educated at Aberdeen University before training as a Congregational minister. Finding his own individualistic views unacceptable to his parish, he gradually turned to literature. He published over fifty volumes of fiction, verse, children’s stories, and sermons but is remembered chiefly for his fairy stories, including The Princess and the Goblin (1872) and its sequel The Princess and Curdie (1873).
Sean Pratt has recorded hundreds of audiobooks in almost every genre. He is a six-time winner of AudioFile magazine’s Earphones Award and a two-time nominee for the prestigious Audie Award.
Reviews
“I have never written a book in which I did not quote [MacDonald].”
“As intelligent as his fiction…While the sermons are intended to give guidance and inspiration, listeners can also hear the genesis of MacDonald’s fictional talents in his imaginings about the mind and intent of God.”
