In The Wishbones, Tom Perrotta's characters are 90s adults still clinging to their 70s dreams. Thirty-one-year-old Dave Raymond has an adoring girlfriend and a steady gig as guitarist for The Wishbones, a New Jersey wedding band. He still lives with his parents, but that's a small price to pay for the freedom to play the music he loves.
Dave's world changes the day three little words fly from his mouth: "Let's get married." His marital ambivalence takes a perilous turn when he embarks on an affair with Gretchen, a New York City poet. Dave is torn between Gretchen and his fiance, Julie, and the two sides of his personality they represent.
The Wishbones is laugh-out-loud confessional about people who might be too old to rock 'n' roll but just can't imagine stopping; a story filled with the revelations and fears of a man finally bidding farewell to his boyhood.

Tom Perrotta is the author of five previous work of fiction: Bad Haircut, The Wishbones, Election, and the New York Times bestselling Joe College and Little Children. Election was made into the acclaimed 1999 movie directed by Alexander Payne and starring Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon. Little Children was released as a movie directed by Todd Field and starring Kate Winslet and Jennifer Connelly in 2006, and for which Perrotta received Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations for best screenplay. He lives outside of Boston, Massachusetts.

Jack Hawkins has narrated the Dinty Moore's Accidental Buddhist as well as Tom Perrotta's The Wishbones, both published by Macmillan Audio.  Of Jack's reading of Accidental Buddhist, AudioFile magazine has said, "Jack Hawkins's vibrant, expressive, youthful voice admirably delivers the author's text and keeps the listener interested...[he] adds an inviting personality of his own."
