Linda Leigh Sinclair is born in the aftermath of World War II. Raised near Ivy Manor, enveloped in the love of her family, Leigh has everything she could possibly need but not everything she wants. Her overwhelming need for freedom for herself and others leads her into the modern civil rights movement.

At eighteen, Leigh watches the powers that be collide with the radical causes of the 1960s. Choosing the dangerous path of a journalist, she witnesses and writes about the protests and riots against segregation and the war in Vietnam. While caught up in the winds of change and idealism, she falls in love. But when a series of misfortunes and misjudgments leads to heartbreak, Leigh must mature quickly and call on God's forgiving grace. Can she become the strong and capable woman that her family—and the world—needs?

In 1997, Lyn Cote's first book, Never Alone, was chosen for the Love Inspired romance line. Since then, Lyn has had over thirty-five novels published, including the 2006 RITA Award finalist Chloe, the 2010 Carol Award finalist Her Patchwork Family, and Her Healing Ways, which won the Carol Award in 2011. Lyn's brand, "Strong Women, Brave Stories," always includes three elements: a strong heroine who is a passionate participant in her times, authentic historical detail, and a multicultural cast of characters. Lyn also features stories of strong women both from real life and true to life fiction on her blog, BooksbyLynCote.com.

Kate Fleming (1965–2006), winner of more than a dozen Earphones Awards and the prestigious Audie Award in 2004, was one of the most respected narrators in the industry. Trained at the Actors Theatre of Louisville, she was also a director, producer, and technician at her own studio, Cedar House Audio.

Reviews

“Of the heroines in the Women of Ivy Manor series, Leigh is the most real and engaging. Cote displays a convincing feel for that particular era of US history.”

“Lyn Cote writes a warm entry starring an interesting protagonist, but it is the backdrop of events that ignite the tale.”
