In DAY OF RECKONING: HOW HUBRIS, IDEOLOGY, AND GREED ARE TEARING AMERICA APART, Buchanan lays out how the United States is being secretly merged with Mexico and embedded in a Global Economy by a disloyal Davos Elite, that threatens the permanent loss of American independence and sovereignty.

The great enemy the audiobook will lay out is "ideology," a false god that has become a de-Christianized America's substitute for true faith. Ideology, says Buchanan, is at root fanaticism. While free enterprise is good, the worship of "free trade" that is de-industrializing America, killing the middle class, and imperiling U.S. economic independence, is madness. While American must stand for freedom, liberty and self-determination, the use of U.S. troops to police the planet or to serve as advance guard of some "world democratic revolution" is, as Iraq shows, imperial folly that will bring down the republic.

Patrick J. Buchanan was a senior advisor to three American Presidents, ran twice for the Republican nomination in 1992 and 1996, and was the Reform Party’s Presidential candidate in 2000. The author of seven books, Mr. Buchanan is a syndicated columnist and a political analyst for MSNBC. He is also Editor Emeritus of the political magazine, The American Conservative. He lives in McLean, Virginia.

Reviews

“Vintage Buchanan: provocative, intelligent.” —Kirkus Reviews

“Buchanan can write, and he knows how to provoke. He presents [his foreign policy prescriptions] forcefully and often persuasively. They deserve a wider hearing in American politics than they are currently given.” —The New York Times

“Those who have dismissed Buchanan in the past as a gadfly might consider what he says in his book. The future of what's left of the country could very well rest on it.” —Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

“Pat Buchanan's new book, "Day of Reckoning," is a tour de force ... a powerful case that free trade, multiculturalism and imperial overreach threaten to put America on the dustheap of history.” —Creators Syndicate

“Pat Buchanan's penetratingly astute Day of Reckoning ... is a strident wakeup call for America.... Buchanan ... will remain a strident American voice to be listened to and reckoned with for some time to come.” —Family Security Matters
